Led by Fr Joachim.

For such a time as this...

STARTING ON 19 February.

Concerns about multiple crises unfolding before her led Hanna Reichel, Professor of Systematic Theology at Princeton University in 2025 to ask, "When has the moment come to stand up publicly and prophetically declare what faith in Jesus Christ means and commands today?" She writes, "it might be that this moment is here. What should the church´s response be?" The book she writes has her focus on the USA but affects many parts of the world and will be the focus of this Lent group. We will meet five times via Zoom on Thursday 19 and 26 February and 5, 19 and 26 March, 19:30–20:30. Please register with the church office and order the book For Such a Time As This by Hanna Reichel (ISBN 978 0 8028 8592 0) available as an e-book or for about €19 from bookshops. (Note that this needs to be ordered now due to shipping).
Led by Fr Christopher.

Water in the Bible
Its Sources and Roles

STARTING on  24 Februar.

The St George's Women Fellowship Group are offering a Lent course for the whole community. Over four weeks we will reflect on the different functions/roles of water in the Bible and now, with each evening focusing on a different source: Wells, Rivers & Lakes, Clouds (rain, floods...), Tears. Meeting dates: Tuesdays, 24 February, 3, 10, 17 March. Time: 19:00 for 19:30 start. Place: At the Antal home in Charlottenburg. Please see Ariane or Eleanor, or contact the church office to register, even if you cannot come in person. We will send you the readings we select for each theme. Led by Eleanor and Ariane.

Reading
the Gospel of John

STARTING on 25 February.

The Fourth Gospels fascinates with concise statements of Jesus about himself and God in him, and with Jesus' dialogues with diverse men and women. Reading this Gospel and sharing your impressions with other readers in this Lenten Bible study group, you can become yourself a dialogue partner with Jesus. And as the Gospel is written "so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Son of God ... and may have life in his name"
(Jn 20.31), you may deepen your understanding of Jesus
and your faith in him.

We will meet six times on Wednesdays of Lent from
19:30 - 21:00, starting
Wednesday 25 February  and finishing 1 April.

To prepare for our first meeting please do read the
whole Gospel of John in one go, if possible. In the evening meetings we will concentrate on selected passages of the Gospel chosen by the group. Please register for the course with Martin by e-mail to [email protected]  saying if you prefer the course to be held
online via Zoom or in person  Berlin-Zehlendorf. The majority of preferences decides the venue.
Led by Fr Martin.

Join us as we move through the book of Esther with our neighbouring churches in Westend on Saturday 21 February. Begins at 14:00 at Heilig Geist, then 15:00 at Evangelische Gemeinde Neu-Westend, ending at 16:30 at St George's.

Marienkirche

HYMNAL SERVICE
 with the Embassy Singers

8 February | 18:00

At the end of last year we introduced the

Revised English Hymnal

at our Marienkirche Evening service.
It is a new Anglican hymnal which has just been published in 2025.

In this hymnal service,
we want to give special thanks to God for the grace and gift of music and singing.
We also want to thank all those who perform music with and for us.
The new hymnals will also be blessed during this Eucharist.

The purchase of our new Marienkirche hymnals was made possible thanks to a generous donation. However, you still have the opportunity to sponsor one or more Melody Hymnals.
If you choose to do so, a dedication can be included at the front of the hymnal
(e.g. 'This hymnal is donated in loving memory of...'). One hymnal costs 25 Euro.
If you are interested to donate one or more copies, please contact Andrew Sims at:

Berlin Freedom Week 2025

Berlin invites you to the Berlin Freedom Week – the new citywide initiative for freedom and democracy
which will take place annually starting in 2025.
The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 stands as a global symbol of the courage people showed in resisting oppression. A triumph of democracy. This legacy lives on – and we celebrate it with the Berlin Freedom Week under the patronage of the Governing Mayor of Berlin.

A platform for dialogue, fresh perspectives, and new ideas. From conferences featuring voices from politics, business, and civil society to eyewitness talks, cultural events,
and interactive formats: Berlin Freedom Week creates new spaces for connection.

Together with Berliners and guests from across Germany and around the world.
For the values that hold our free society together.
Join us as Berlin takes a stand.
For freedom. Together.
